Terrain were involved in surveying the fabrication of the Eden Park South Stand Facade during construction by Culham Engineering. The survey was complex, involving a high level of accuracy to meet the fabrication tolerances required.
We were approached by Culham Engineering very early on in this project, with the team seeking input and advice on issues they had relating to meeting the tight construction tolerances of this very unique project.
By involving us as part of the design and manufacturing process, we were able to work with Culhams designers and manufacturers to manage those tolerances. A Sokkia Robotic Total Station was used to achieve the high accuracy required for the complex “fern” structures.
The 22.5m high ferns each weighed 8.3 tonnes, with four full ferns, six half ferns and two bookends “setout” for fabrication by Culhams.
